Welcome to our pool,The Leroy Colombo Swim Center, named after a deaf lifeguard who once held a Guinness Book World Record for having saved the most number of lives while a long time lifeguard in Galveston. Another interesting fact about our pool is that it is frequently used by the Austin Film industry as a scene for commercials such as one starring Garret Weber-Gale in a commercial for a local auto dealership and a few movies and television shows such as The Faculty (see if you can find the maroon tiles on the pool walls left from movie), The Ringer, and Friday Night Lights. So you'll be swimming at a pool where other well-known and famous people, including Olympic swimmers, have swum.
Again, glad to have you all here! We are looking forward to a great day of friendly competition!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED from VISITING TEAM:
Stroke and Turn Judges – 6 per shift needed. TSD is able to provide 2 s/t judges for the entire meet.
Timers - 9 per shift needed (12 timers plus 1 back-up timer). TSD will be able to provide 3 timers per shift. Note: We usually have one of the two timers scribe (if you would like to have volunteers as scribes, we would need 6 volunteers). We just don't have enough team/family members to be scribes.
Sribes - 6 per shift needed.
Ready Bench Volunteers – 2 per shift. TSD will also have their own 2 ready bench volunteers and will assist, yet will work primarily with their own swimmers to ensure communication access.
Heat Winner Ribbons – 1 per shift (TSD will also provide 1 heat winner ribbon volunteer for 1st and 2nd shift)
Volunteer Shift Change will take place between event #39 (Freestyle Relays) and event #40 (Girls 6 and Under Freestyle)
DQ Slip Runners - 1 per shift. TSD will also provide 1 DQ Slip Runner per shift.
Age Group Team Tents -You may set up your team tents as early as 6:15 am. You may include tarps, or towels, or lawn chairs for a place sit within the tent. Visiting Team will provide own volunteers for Age Group Tents.
Two options for team tent set-up:
OPTION #1 Set-Up Tents underneath the pool breezeway (east side of the pool) by elevator, including the area going South of the breezeway to the Seeger Gym (may also use grass area). Just be sure to keep the stairwell clear. This is recommended so that your swimmers/parents can hear the announcer for event/heat order, etc.
OPTION #2 You may use the mall area on the top part of the stairs/Tower Clock.
Contact Nick Bannon: 512-784-9979 (text), if you have any questions.
TSD Sea Rangers Age Group Tents will be on the south side of the pool mall.
Spectators/Swimmers. Spectators will be encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs. The viewing space/deck space of the pool will be “standing room” only.
Rest Rooms. Will be available at the Seeger Gym next door to the pool. We will encourage parents/spectators, even swimmers to use the Seeger Gym rest rooms in order to keep the pool area clear.
Ready Benches. All swimmers will use the same ready bench located just outside of the main entrance of the pool beside the track flagpole.
Meet Event Format. Using a 6-lane, 25-yard pool, and as dictated by the Bylaws, girls first, boys second: IM, Butterfly, Backstroke, Freestyle Relay, Freestyle, Breaststroke, Medley Relay.
SPECIAL NOTE on SWIM STARTS/TIMERS. There will be no shallow water dive starts due to the depth only being 3 feet. All dive starts will be in the deep end. Timers will start in the deep end for all events, except for the 25s, which will be timed at the shallow end. This will only effect the 100 Free Relay and the 100 Medley Relay. All starts in all events will be from the deep end.
Pool Area Lay-out/Set-up locations. See "pool site" up above. Click to access maps.
Timing/Timers. TSD uses a Daktronics Timing System, touch pads, plunger buttons, and stopwatches to time swimmers. There will be volunteer 2 timers per lane.
CONCESSIONS. We will have basic concessions: breakfast tacos, candy, drinks (water/soda). Since the swim meet is expected to finish before 12:30 pm, we will not be serving lunch foods.
WEATHER. In the event of stormy inclement weather, we will follow league protocol in that if we have lightning, we will wait 30 minutes, twice, then we will reschedule or cancel the meet altogether.
For meet related questions, please contact Nick Bannon. 512-784-9979 (text only). You may also email [email protected]
